I don't enjoy it when my week is disrupted and I have to be off work to look after them because they're poorly. Though I love it when I have a week's holiday to look after them and I know it's coming and I can plan for it in advance. I hope Old Lady didn't spoil your enjoyment of toddler group too much. Toddler groups should be compulsory for all adults whether or not they have children - which if necessary they should be able to borrow for the toddler session so that they can get to join in and break up fights with all the other grown ups. (That's Grown-ups breaking up toddler fights/arguments, not doing the fighting.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-80594771274695215.post-30616782949392924462012-03-10T00:28:17.391-08:002012-03-10T00:28:17.391-08:00I don't discount that C, and that's always...I don't discount that C, and that's always a definite possibility, but a google search (on www.google.co.nz) still throws up thong/jandals as the most common difference between Aussie English and NZ English. I'm going to put it down to the Aussie-fication of Auckland :D

Also I am not arguing with you on the Old Lady - you were there and I wasn't! Obviously I am missing something. Above in your blog post you said that "it is the one time of the week when I can really focus on enjoying my youngest.", which at the time I was reading it came across to me as you saying how much you appreciated that time as you don't get it very often (especially given you've got three children) and the time just flies past so quickly and it just struck me that maybe that's how the old lady heard what you were saying too. But I wasn't there, and you can't get a whole situation with all its nuances into a paragraph, so really I should have taken your it the way you saw it. If that makes sense?!

I read that Carpe Diem article when it first came out - went rather viral on Facebook. I think it really had a lot of resonance with lots of mothers!GateGipsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17449701014881389637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-80594771274695215.post-36649219274640561402012-03-09T15:09:30.767-08:002012-03-09T15:09:30.767-08:00I am very Thankful to God for my 4 boys. Maybe you've been away for a while and the slang has changed?

I think personally it's pretty different "I really enjoyed this, thanks" to the whole carpe diem thing, which as Polly's link shows is clearly something that irritates not just me! Thanks for that Polly, I hadn't read it, or if I had I had forgotten.Cumulushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05218487159008745141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-80594771274695215.post-25234850596927723002012-03-08T11:07:03.979-08:002012-03-08T11:07:03.979-08:00I think your friend met an Aussie. Mind you Auckland is quite Aussie-fied so who knows?

I think the old lady was just agreeing with you - you'd more or less said something similar with your statement about how precious the time at that session was to you. Or maybe that's just how I hear it.GateGipsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17449701014881389637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-80594771274695215.post-15365942299296646002012-03-08T01:59:07.210-08:002012-03-08T01:59:07.210-08:00did you ever see this?
